Shine your heart! Speak your truth: A workshop on self-love and journaling
In our culture, some of us feel pressured to conform to social conventions and practices that don’t feel in alignment with how we’d like to express our feelings of love, gratitude, connection, etc. (yes, I am speaking of holidays like Christmas or celebrations like Valentine’s day).
By not following our deep truth and intuition we are often left disempowered and disappointed or excluded by these dates in the social calendar. What is more, many a times, we have been so numbed by years of social conditioning, that we don’t even know what we truly want to be doing instead, what we want to offer our friends/family, and how we want to express our thoughts and feelings in a way that is meaningful to us.
In this two-hour workshop, we will use the principles of Forrest Yoga (breath, integrity, strength and spirit) to investigate the stories that shape our self-beliefs and our bodies. We will use a combination of movement, pranayama, core work, self-reflection and expressive writing exercises to explore the fears that might be holding us back and ignite our hearts towards our individual truths.
This workshop is not designed to teach writing technique, but rather to utilise the creative medium of writing as a tool, in combination with yoga, to cultivate self-inquiry, self-love, and healing.
Open to all, whether you are new to yoga (Forrest or other styles) and journaling. Come as you are.
Sarah, who will be leading this workshop is a Level 1 Certified Forrest Yoga teacher and has a BA in Creative Writing and a doctorate in 21st Century Poetry.
