50h Yin Yoga & Chinese Medicine training
With Emma Peel
Join Emma this Autumn for an immersion into Yin and TCM.
At the heart of this Yin Yoga & Chinese Medicine training is a simple but important question: How do we meet the person in front of us without imposing upon them?
Yin Yoga becomes a practice of listening, and Chinese Medicine offers a language for understanding what is being felt and experienced. Together, they create a framework for teaching with greater depth, clarity and humanity.
Throughout the training, we explore anatomy, energetics, awareness practice and the relationship between body, breath, emotion and lived experience. We study structure in detail — not to reduce people to mechanics, but to better understand individuality and what is being experienced internally.
Again and again, we return to one principle: Teaching people, not postures.
Emma’s Teaching Philosophy
At the heart of this training is a simple but important question: How do we meet the person in front of us without imposing upon them?
Not every body is asking to be opened. Some are asking to feel safe. Some are asking to be listened to. Some are carrying experiences we cannot immediately see.
Throughout the training, we explore how Yin Yoga can move beyond the external movements of the body into a deeper relationship with breath, awareness, sensation, energy and lived human experience.
We study anatomy and structure in detail — not to reduce people to mechanics, but to better understand individuality, variation and what is being experienced internally.
Again and again, we return to one principle: Teaching people, not postures.
Because when practice includes awareness — not only movement, but breath, mind and felt experience — it becomes something more relational than form alone.
Over time this became one of the central questions of my teaching. Not every person enters practice through the same doorway. Some enter through the body. Some through thought. Some through emotion, breath, stillness or meaning. The posture may be the same, but the experience is never identical.

Structure & What is included:
The Five Movements Yin Yoga & Chinese Medicine Teacher Training is a 50-hour Yoga Alliance Professionals UK-accredited course.
Across seven days together, we move through the Five Elements, exploring Yin Yoga postures, anatomy, energetics, archetypes, breath and awareness practice, while looking at the relationship between body, mind and emotion.
The Five Elements are explored not simply as a system of Chinese Medicine, but as a way of understanding the cycles and phases through which all life unfolds.
Each day includes meditation, Yin Yoga, functional anatomy, Chinese Medicine theory, discussion, observation and practical teaching.
The course includes a 50-hour Yoga Alliance Professionals UK-accredited certificate, a printed training manual, seven days of teaching and study, and refreshments throughout the day.
This training is immersive and layered gently over time, allowing understanding to deepen through repetition, direct experience and shared exploration.
Who is this training for?
This course is for everybody. From Yoga teachers wanting to deepen the way they understand and work with people; practitioners seeking a more embodied and meaningful relationship with practice; those interested in anatomy, energetics, nervous system health and Chinese Medicine; teachers wishing to move beyond performance-based approaches to Yoga; and anyone curious about how posture, breath, emotion, perception and life experience interact within the body.
You do not need to be a Yoga teacher or want to become one to attend. All that is needed is curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore and deepen your understanding of how the Five Elements system can illuminate different aspects of human experience and life.
The smaller group setting allows for a depth and intimacy rarely found in larger trainings.
